Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate

Course Description

The Advanced Resuscitation Techniques course (ARTC) is the minimum course requirement for a first aider required to use advanced resuscitation equipment in the workplace.

The objective of ART training is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to introduce oxygen into resuscitation for either oxygen supplemented resuscitation or oxygen therapy and to safely perform Defibrillation using semi-automatic external defibrillators.

Course Content

  • Review of the principles of CPR including the D.R.S.A.B.C.D action plan
  • Why use oxygen and how to use oxygen to supplement resuscitation
  • The components of oxygen resuscitation equipment and their maintenance
  • Administering oxygen therapy
  • Oropharyngeal airways
  • Apply methods of suction
  • Defibrillation terminology, safety and use
  • Legal issues
  • Infection control

Methods of Delivery and Course Duration

  • 7 hour course - classroom style, highly interactive training and assessment.

Course Information

Upon successful completion of the training, candidates will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment in:

  • HLTCPR201A - Perform CPR
  • HLTFA404A - Apply advanced resuscitation techniques 

Valid for one year from date of completion
