Occupational First Aid Course

Course Description

WA Occupational First Aid is designed for Australian workplace conditions to specifically deal with injuries, accidents and illnesses that occur in the workplace. This Occupational First Aid course is essential for people who are responsible for workplace Occupational Health and Safety issues.

WA Occupational First Aid will broaden the knowledge learned in a Senior First Aid course and will equip the First Aider with the skills to work within an industrial environment, using relevant First Aid Equipment. The Occupational First Aid course also provides information on state and federal legislation, as it applies to workplace First Aid.

Course Content

  • Manage safety and apply legislation in the workplace
  • Care of welfare in the workplace
  • Care and maintenance of First Aid facilities
  • Completing relevant documentation
  • Assessment of a casualty
  • Resuscitation, oxygen and defibrillation
  • Administration of medications
  • Recognise and apply the principles of triage
  • Bleeding and wound care
  • Legislative requirements

Methods of Delivery and Course Duration

Full Course:

  • 4 days (30 hours minimum) of highly interactive training and assessment

Course Information

Pre-requisite:   A current Senior First Aid certificate

On successfully completing the training, participants will obtain a nationally recognised statement of attainment detailing the units of competence:

  • HLTFA402B Apply Advanced First Aid
  • HLTFA403A Manage First Aid in the workplace
  • HLTFA404A Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques

Validity: WA Occupational First Aid is valid for 3 years.  It is recommended that the Advanced Resuscitation

Component of the Occupational First Aid course is refreshed every 12 month.
