Oxygen Administration
Course Description
Oxygen administration is useful for any patient who does not appear to be adequately perfused or not maintainng sufficient oxygen levels. Patients likely to benefit from oxygen include those with the following conditions:
- Unconsciousness
- Shock
- Blood loss
- Shortness of breath, including asthma
- Circulatory distress
- Severe pain
- Injuries
- After resuscitation
- Absent breathing
Course Content
- Review of the principles of CPR including the D.R.S.A.B.C.D action plan
- Why use oxygen and how to use oxygen to supplement resuscitation
- The components of oxygen resuscitation equipment and their maintenance
- Administering oxygen therapy
- Oropharyngeal airways
- Apply suction methods

Full Course:
- Oxygen Resuscitation is 2.5 hours of classroom style highly interactive learning and assessment
Course Information
Pre-requisite: PUAEME001B Provide Emergency Care
On successfully completing the training, participants will obtain a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment in the unit of competence:
- PUAEME003C Administer oxygen in an emergency situation
Validity: Oxygen Resuscitation Certificate is valid for 1 year from date of completion.
