Defibrillation

Full Course: 2.5 hours $75.00 (GST Exclusive)
Early access to defibrillation, combined with early commencement of effective CPR, is critical to the successful resuscitation of a casualty experiencing cardiac distress. The aim of defibrillation training is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to ensure the treatment of a person suffering cardiac arrest. These skills include the use of a semi-automatic external defibrillator.
Course Content
- Define defibrillation
- Identification of cardiac rhythms
- Identify signs and symptoms of heart attack
- Name and identify types of semi-automatic external defibrillators (SAED)
- Outline the defibrillation process
- Perform simulated operation of a SAED with instruction
- Safe operation of external defibrillator
- Maintenance and storage of external defibrillators
Accreditation
Upon successful completion of the training, participants will obtain a nationally recognised statement of attainment in the following unit of competence:
- PUAOPE010A Operate a semi-automatic defibrillator in an emergency
Validity
Defibrillation is valid for 12 months
